(To be honest some of the post processing looks like paintings on velvet or aluminum foil.)
If that's your "bag", fine Guess I am old school.
I would like to see more attention paid to improving everyone's images.
Maybe have assistance in processing. Select odd ball subjects using numbers, letters or combinations.
Squares, circles, triangles. Colors, reflections. Holidays can be celebrated in images.
Anything to get people out of their comfort zones. To capture something other than barns, birds, animals and flowers.
In any hobby or avocation growth is necessary for success.

Perhaps your idea of growth is not shared by everyone. I couldn't care less what others do, its their prerogative.

I'll go my own way.

I never found it. Must be the jockey shorts I wear when I'm shooting pictures out in the field.

Look for the recent topics that have the word "Challenge" in them. They show up on a regular basis with different subjects. This is the current Thread for the next couple of days: http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-213646-1.html

"Watch" that thread and near the end of the time they will post link to the next challenge.

GrayPlayer, Have you subscribed to the post-processing section of this forum? It's really neat to watch the originals morph there!

Good points GrayPlayer. Why not post some examples of what you speak of to better get your point across? Might be interesting to see and could spur folks in that direction. (Can't hoit, eh?) :)

Join a club if you want to get out of your comfort zone. I attended my first club meeting last Thursday and they have all kinds of excursions where they meet up, car pool to a location, take pictures, go home, process them, and then email them so that they can be critiqued and the next monthly meeting. Some of the excursions are local, and some take them out of town for a few days. The last one took them to Sodona AZ. Personally, I'm not driving 471 miles for a field trip. That would really be taking me out of my comfort zone. I saw 180 of their pictures at the meeting and the sky was white and overcast making for really crappy pictures (as far as the sky was concerned).

I happen to prefer barns, landscapes, birds, animals and flowers. You, of course, are free to shoot commas and periods.

Hell no!!

Just because folks disagree don't think you are wrong. Your photography is about you - not them. All ideas are good and will resonate with someone.

setting yourself goals is sometimes hard to keep on doing in isolation - some of us need a push start occaisionally. There is room in this forum to do this. competition or gallery or post as a 'free to PP'

If you are selling your services as an 'ideas man' for UHH competitions criteria then you will need to contact ADMIN. The more diverse the competitions the more folks will stop putting the wrong pictures in....!

don't let the few shout you down. Certainly not as a 'new' member.
George

Have you considered posting a topic which will elicit the responses you propose?

Edit: My apologies, Papa Joe, I should have read the other responses first.

Thank you very much for your reply!
There are so many thing around us every day, they will look quite different when being magnified comparing seeing it with our naked eyes. You will have to bring your macro lens with you where ever you go and discover it yourself!
Here are some examples: WATER, such as water drop-let; soap bubble; oil in the water ; ice crystal; snow-flake etc

HARDWARE, such as needle; screws; nails; tacks; nuts; spring; small light bulbs etc.

SMALL Jewel, any with nice colorful texture.

MINERAL, such crystal stone; sand; chemical material etc.

THE FOOD YOU EAT, such as texture of fruits; scale of the fish etc.

Any Thing You Can Pick Up any where, such as feather from the bird; rusty texture of the metal street lamp pole etc.
Remember that things look surprisingly different to the naked eyes when being magnified!
