I belong to the Lorquin Entomological Society (http://www.facebook.com/lorquinsociety ), and was recently asked to provide a few photographs of ants for a pending article.

Ants! Talk about small! So I gave it my best shot. Post cropping, 10:1 magnification (10x life-size), or greater.

Hand-held Nikon D5000 at ISO 400 with Nikkor 105G macro lens, 1/200-sec at f/20 (or so), natural sunlight and Nikon SB-600 Speedlight with O-Flash 3/4-circle Fresnel prism attachment.

I used to hate a lot of bugs and insects until I saw macro pictures of them. Marvelous constructions irregardless of the species.
