Does anybody have a any suggestions for a website where I can post photos to share with friends and family? I inherited a lot of photos when my parents passed away a few years back, and would love to find a place to post them for the rest of the family to be able to share and enjoy. I also have several of my own (and hopefully a LOT more in the future now that I got my new Nikon d7100!). At this point, I'm not looking for a place to sell photos, and would like for the family to be able to print their own copies online if they wanted to. I'm not against having to pay to do this, but would like to keep costs to a minimum. I would prefer something that's not too difficult to set up and post to, but not necessarily something that just anyone would be able to get to. Maybe something with open viewing to some files, and more personal items could be password protected for "family and friends only" access?
I would recommend that you check Flickr.
You could also use Dropbox. That is how I share all the pictures of my GGD with the rest of the family and friends.

 Sign up with your Yahoo ID, chose how and with who you share your images.

A basic SmugMug subscription ($40/year) does everything you want, with both password protected and unlisted galleries, as well as online ordering of prints.
Current SmugMug subscribers can give you a referral code which gives you a 20% discount, and then they also get the same discount. If you have a friend who has it, ask them, otherwise I can send you a code.
Flickr.com costs: 3-month subscription at $6.95; and 1-year subscription at $24.95. I have the 1-year "Pro" subscription, which you can view, lower left this post. Click on any image to enlarge.
Great! I viewed your Flickr postings. You make beautiful shots.

I've been using Dropbox for a couple years now. It's free but you're limited in storage. You gain more storage as people you share with download the program on their device. I've built up about 4 gig already and have folders that are shared with certain parts of my huge family.
Only drawback is that some users you share with inadvertently delete the image rather than copy it. But there is a restore feature and the program will tell you which person did it. My family has trouble navigating around the site and they aren't all tech savvy, so some use the photos and others complain that they still want me to take the time to rip CDs and snail mail.
If you have a gmail account and sign up for Google+, you can upload photos from their free Picasa program to web albums. You can share with the world, share via an email link or only to those you want. I write a blog about my African mission trips and probably have 5,000 photos from that and personal stuff and am using less than 10% of the room they give me because I upload to a web friendly size. It's free, but you can buy more space. Your friends and family can download the images, not sure if there's a way to order prints, but I'd be surprised if Google hasn't found a way to make more money. Here's a link to a couple of hand-held HDR photos I did from a bridge at sunset while avoiding being run over by bikes and cars.

If you want to keep the shots private and the cost low how about Google Drive or Microsoft Skydrive

I've used both Flickr and Picasa. My TV has a connection to Picasa, and I can look at them on the big screen.
Plenty of options out there....
See:
http://www.cnet.com/how-to/comparing-the-best-ways-to-store-your-photos-online/Also, for 7.00/mo you can have your own website. We have used websitesource.com for years now. They are excellent, support is excellent. Control panel is simple. If making your own simple site is daunting, it is as simple as basically making a word processing document using wordpress.com. I'm not a web designer, there are tons of simple videos on youtube related to wordpress.
Should you have any questions about websitesource.com, please feel free to e-mail me. Mike Nolan/mnolan@rainforestandreef.org

I use SmugMug, and I love it. You set up your own URL, and can customize your site anyway you want. You should take a look.
You can add to the above good suggestions, "We Transfer."
