I have a stupid question. What is G.A.S?

Whenever you have an excuse (like a refurbed model that's $200+ lower than a new one!) to relieve some G.A.S. No time better than the present! ;-) :-D

Gear Acquisition Syndrome.

And there is a support group here. When you spend a bunch of money, we support it.

Ah. Thank you for the clarification.

In the last six months, I've purchased a D3000 to decide if I want to get back into this hobby and then a D7100 to confirm that I do. Now I'm eyeing another one...so bad.

Not sure if there is a good time of the year to buy a camera, but I spent 3 years researching and then timed my purchase.

Photon56, your G.A.S. Support Group sponsor will be DavidPine. Expect to buy a D800 shortly. ;-)

And I will proudly nominate amehta to sponsor your GL.A.S*., which is soon to follow your GAS!
I believe that you have solidly proven to have GAS and GLAS

*GL.A.S. = Glass Acquisition Syndrome. In the final analysis, GAS =GLAS

Gas Acquisition Syndrome = Gain Loss Analysis Summary

I am not a good sponsor, I try to stop people from spending to much money. :-)

I always buy mine some time between January 1 and December 31. Probably not the most helpful answer.

And by the way, have you been properly welcomed to the UHH?
If someone has recommended you buy something, then yes; if not, then no. I recommend you buy something new.

Also, when responding, please use the QUOTE REPLY tab to be specific as to whose response you are responding to.

Again, welcome!

... and in our various places from where we read and respond to this forum, we are smiling and happy in our hearts that a fellow Hog has acquired something. Sometimes there's quiet applause if the acquisition is a result of spirited debating through several features or issues (one model over another, one format vs another, one lens or lens type over another), resolved by respondents in this forum.
