If you were going to spend the summer in Wisconsin what areas would you put on your photo list? Time or distance within the state will not be a factor.

Definitely check out the Wisconsin Dells area. Any area around the lake is pretty. Depending on your interests, there's the Harley-Davidson museum, Milwaukee Brewers Baseball, lighthouses, Green Bay with Lambeau Field....just to name a few.

Having lived in Wisconsin for over 40 years, I would suggest staying away from the tourist traps. Yes, the Dells have much natural beauty, but the Dells area is like a giant amusement park. If your kids like water parks & cheap trinkets, O.K., otherwise No.

Same for Lambeau Field where all they want is your money to help increase the profits of the wealthiest of all pro-football franchises, including the salaries of overpaid Jocks.

Same for the Harley Museum. Why contribute to the profits of the company that makes the most over-priced motorcycle in the world; over-priced, way too noisy, average quality, and "Cult" oriented.

I suggest visiting Door County, The Milwaukee County Zoo, The Milwaukee Art Museum, the Bayfield, Wisconsin area including The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, The Indian Head area, Madison, The City of Lakes, and so much more.

Forget the tourist traps!!!

Good advice! Eau Claire area is quite lovely, as well. Two rivers [Chippewa, Eau Claire], scenic area, great regional parks [parking fee], magnificent, stately homes. They don't quite match the mansions of New England, but they're photogenic all the same.

Wisconsin Dells is definitely a MUST SEE location, and make sure to take the trip up through the 'dells', I will never regret the trip we made through there!!

The LaCrosse area has an abundance of photo opportunities. Check it out. We had a photo convention there several years ago and it was wonderful.

Are you looking for photographic areas and/or things to visit (by yourself or with kids, young or teenaged)?
Door County is both. House on the Rock is both, not as much for kids. There are waterfalls in the northcentral part of the state. Beaches in two rivers qualify for both.
Green Bay has Lambeau Field, Packer Hall of Fame tours, Bay Beach (if bringing young children, a must stop) NEW zoo and bay beach sanctuary for animals
Milwaukee has great museums, lakefront.

There are lots of old buildings and bridges in Milwaukee to photograph. Green Bay has a pretty good railroad museum, including a Union Pacific Big Boy 4-8-8-4 locomotive. Door County has lots of beautiful scenery. Don't miss the Cana Island Lighthouse on the east side of Door County, or the Maritime Museum and Fireboat Ride in Sturgeon Bay.

I grew up in Janesville Wisconsin and lived there for 33 years. my family still lives there. I would definitely agree with Tom G. Door county is really a wonderful place to visit. If you're travelling up the Lake Michigan shore you could take a very short detour over to Green Lake. A very scenic area just west of Fond Du Lac. Yes, the La Cross area is very scenic also, however it is on the west side of Wisconsin overlooking the Mississippi River. Like Tom G. I would not waste any time on the tourist traps. Especially the House on the Rock.

WOW, what a loaded question. Being from Wisconsin and reading every ones ideas on what and where to visit for photo ops, they probably covered just about all the sites.
Not knowing your preferences, I suggest you Google Wisconsin, do your own research and use all the suggestions as tools.
Mother Nature stopped the glaciers in our state and gave us two great lakes and many inland lakes.
Enjoy

Thank all of you for the feedback. I have done a lot of my own research. Usually if I visit a place I as a local if I can only see one thing in your community what would you suggest? What I find is usually something that is not on the list of the in things. Thank you again.
