Yes, that is true. When I get ready I might post it on here and see what happens.

Of course, you could just sell it for a VERY low price! Then you could UPS it to me COD with no worries! :D :D

I will say that I wouldn't put anything on for more than $1,000 because even with COD, you could have a brick in the package and the buyer wouldn't know it until the UPS driver had gone with your money. It is possible to stop payment on a money order, but it cost a bundle. I am downsizing to smaller cameras and have a Canon 5D Mark III that I wouldn't sell on this site because it is too much. I have to sell it on Craigslist. The problem with Craigslist there aren't as many knowledgeable folks that read that.

You might try selling it on Amazon. Setting up a seller account is fairly simple. Amazon collects the payment and holds it until the item is delivered, then transfers it to your bank account (or mails a check, however you have it set up). I just sold a lens and still have a couple cameras and another lens on there. Commission and fees are just under 10%. Visibility is much better than Craigslist, you don't have to worry about wackos, and those who see it are specifically looking for that item.

I doubt that would work with my PO. They don't even know about Return to Sender. I have to go to another PO to do that. :D

 No PO will take a UPS COD...USPS have a COD service but its so rarely used that a lot of clerks don't know how to do it, so they try to talk you out of it.

I used UPS COD once, it was for a very large amount (over $10K). They lost the check. They admitted the driver had picked up the check but they lost it. I had to wait 6 months to get my money.
Use Pay Pal.

I had an interesting experience yesterday. I put my Canon 5D Mark III, etc. listing on this site and also on Craigslist. I didn't really expect anything from Craigslist. Within 15 minutes after I listed it on Craigslist, I had an inquiry, I called, we will meet today and I think it will be a sale. That is supply and demand at its very best.

If it were $500 you may want to pay the Pay Pal fee. The few things I have sold here were Under $100 so I just sent them and the buyer's sent me the money no problem. On eBay I end my sale on Sunday's and ship on Monday. If I havn't got the money yet I have just sent it, droped them an email telling them I didn't want to take two trips to the post office and only once did I lose money. That was on a $4 item. I find that I like life a lot better if I just trust people and if I get stung once in awhile no big deal. - Dave

I don't like using PayPal though I see I may be in the minority on that point. I have bought/sold lots of cameras, firearms and knives and motorcycles through forums and have never had a problem. I advertise as honestly as I possibly can and point out any problem area(s) such as scratches etc. I expect the buyer to send me a cashiers check and when I receive it I am always good about getting the item in the mail or shipping service the same day if possible.

I have never had a problem except for once sending a cashiers check which the mailman then put in a neighbors box. Fortunately the dealer I was buying from believed me when I told him I had honestly sent a check. A week later the neighbor gave me the opened envelope with my yet to be delivered check. I contacted the seller and let him know what happened then sent it next day air. All went well.

Let me chime in from the other side. I was curious about photography so I started reading UHh and asked questions. To make the story short. I now have two Pentax K7 Cameras and a variety of lenses. I am having a wonderful time and have a source for information and advice I trust. Everything I have purchased was as new condition, as advertised. I never realized how lucky I was until a close friend purchased a Nikon D600 from Amizon last week for Big Bucks called Nikon to register the camers to find that the camera was not a Nikon at all. Now she has to go through the process of getting her money retured. People here have been honest and straight forward.which is Great! Unlike our Lenses, we are not made of Glass. Thank you all!

You are welcome! We do our best, most of us anyway, when we're not hungover or just plain grouchy! :D
I'm curious. How did your friend not realize that the camera was not a Nikon until she talked to Nikon? Did someone purposely put false markings on it? Usually you can't miss the logo.

PayPal is always best. I've sold everything from rare books and paintings to used kitchen items using PayPal and it has a guarantee attached to it to protect both the buyer and seller. Get the money up front and mail.
