I'm not a professional photographer, but over the years I have had to pick up photography knowledge for my work. I use a Nikon P510 now and have learned a lot. I take passable product shots, but now want to take passable interior and exterior shots of homes. I don't want to go to a removeable lens camera because that is really crossing the monetary lines into being a pro, so I'm trying to squeeze as much as I can out of the P510. That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!

Maybe you're at a brick wall :?:
Sometimes there is a limit to mechanical (camera models types) devices.
Perhaps a reconsideration is in order :?:
Good luck :!:

Your other option is to use a wireless trigger for remote flashes to improve your indoor lighting, but that too will be an expense.

Hi izzi. Welcome to the hog. There are MANY photographers that have interchangeable lens cameras and are not professional. Yes, use what you have and then study the results. If that means you need a camera with more bells and whistles……go for it. You will be no more professional with a few more lenses. Remember, the equipment doesn't make the professional. The equipment just helps the photographer to adjust to different situations.

Welcome Izzi. Shooting inside homes can often be a problem of insufficient light. Your 510 has a pop-up flash which is good for slightly more than 15 feet, but in large rooms it can be a problem. You can buy a lighting system from B&H or Adorama along with a stand to take care of those dark corners your pop-up won't illuminate or you might consider stepping up to the Canon HS50 which has a flash shoe for external flash. Then you can look into purchasing a relatively inexpensive on-camera flash with a guide no. above 100' that will solve your indoor picture taking problems post haste. There are quite a few bridge cameras, that is what yours is, that have external flash shoes that will greatly enhance your job related photo needs. The pictures will look a lot more professional with a flash that can be bounced off a ceiling or a side wall. Good luck in you search to improve your photo skills. PS: You can go to B&H and they have free sessions that you can watch on how to improve your picture taking.
