It should surprise no one that after our troops are all out, and I sincerely wish that could be tomorrow, that Karzai with the aid of the Taliban will make a power grab away from the next pro western leaning president, for a few important reasons.
If her wants to stay alive he has to ally himself with the Talban and for lack of a better term be thier stooge to reenstall Sharia law.
He will have some trouble with the pro-west Tribal leaders, and maybe some of the army, but who really knows what is going on behind closed doors in any country.
I personally hope we just leave. I is time for the country and the people that live there to sort out their own problems.
I always feel sorry for the people, but it is the people that must rise up and settle the issues.
we will once again have an ungrateful country in the wake of our trying to give them a better life.

I agree. My thought is to get out and let them kill themselves and solve the problem. May the best zealot win.

Ihave been saying that since before we went in. We had no business there in the first place. Thought we learned our lesson in Vietnam. If we go in- go in to win. Could not understand the B/S of winning their heats and minds.

Agree 100% I wonder how long it will take for them to start referring to the USA as the great satan. We just don't understand the religious dominance of the Middle East, we keep trying to use political ideology to deal with countries who couldn't care less about politics.

our wars today are like those long great gothic romances that end in heartbreak...

we need some wham-bam-thank-you-maam wars.

Far too concerned about collateral damage for that to happen, we’d much rather they go one for years and accomplish nothing.

I heartily agree. Karzai is a 2 bit sellout piece of scum. I remember when our troops believed they had a chance to get bin Laden and wanted to pursue him, Karzai held our troops back for a few days for some stupid reason. I'm sure he did this to give bin Laden a chance to escape.

You're right! As soon as we pull the last of our troops out, the Taliban and al Quaida will take over the country and the people of Afghanistan...and the world...will beg for us to come back in and clean up the mess...again.

Though I believe in the maxim that no good deed goes unpunished, usually, this war was a case of a foolish deed that was rewarded accordingly.
