Remington plans to move into
an available plant and pretty quickly hire 1500 folks. This facility is a couple of miles from the Huntsville airport and last used by a car product company.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) Doesn't Want Them
Remington, one of the world's largest gun manufacturers, will on Monday
join Gov. Robert Bentley (R) to announce they are bringing over 2,000 jobs
to Alabama.
Most of the jobs will be relocated from their Ilion, NY plant, and the
initial investment in Alabama will be $87 million.
Founded in 1816 in upstate New York, the company is one of the nation's
oldest continuously operating manufacturers. Remington is the only U.S.
manufacturer of both firearms and ammunition products and one of the
largest domestic producers of shotguns and rifles.
Remington first began considering new locations after the New York
legislature passed the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement (SAFE)
Act in response to the tragic shootings in Newtown, Conn. It broadened the
definition of so-called "assault weapons" to include a wide range of guns,
including the Bushmaster, which was being manufactured at Remington's New
York plant.
A month ago, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) said, "extreme conservatives" who
are "right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay," have "no place in the
state of New York."
Gov. Bentley responded "In Alabama we strongly support and uphold our
great U.S. Constitution on which our nation and our states were founded.
"The Constitution serves to protect individual freedoms. Among them are
those guaranteed in the Second Amendment, which protects the right of the
people to keep and bear Arms. We will protect the freedoms of individuals
and welcome anyone or any company to Alabama to discover as so many have,
that we are a pro-business state filled with good, hardworking people.
"If Gov. Cuomo doesn't want hard working pro-life and pro-2nd Amendment
people in his state, we will gladly take them here in Alabama."

Why does he think I want to live in New York in the first place.

Quote "A month ago, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) said, "extreme conservatives" who
are "right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay," have "no place in the
state of New York." I have no issue with gay's except they talk to much and make a big deal of their "coming out". I have no problem with a rifle having more than a one shot capability, even though we did pretty good with those kinds of weapons once before but then that is all that both sides had. By the way Cuomo you do not speak for all New Yorkers or the rest of the country for that matter, so please shut your trap on these issues. BTW the poor need donations from you for food.

One last thought, New York's loss the South's gain

Congratulations to Remington ( what took you so long ?) lol

I recently noticed that Gov. Cuome ( a flaming lberal) has just begun to re-invent himself into a Conservative .

And NY State is running hourly ads on TV advertising that anyone who opens a new business in NY will get the first 10 years TAX FREE .
I'm just surprised that we have not heard anything from our Liberal peanut gallery .

Yeah ,
I hope the part with the 2000 employees is moving to Alabama.
And the part which still makes typewriters will stay in NY ( as a Tax writeoff , to pay for the re-location expenses ) Lol

Kahr Arms in NY is also expanding a new facility in Lord's Valley, PA for the same reasons.

My governor. The same asshole who as HUD Secretary said even poor people should own homes, and we know where that liberal thinking got us.

I commend Remington for having the balls and challenging this nit wit.

Ok... Remington won a new contract for a new design military weapon. Since the 1800'e Remington's have been made in Illion, NY a very small upstate town, that surrounds this great, old fashioned looking factory, filled with highly skilled and talented workers and designers, and produce, arguably, the finest firearms on earth.

Immediately after the Connecticut mass murder, Cuomo decided to outlaw one class of firearms in NY that Remington produces, despite not a single robbery, murder or issue ever with that type of firearm ever in NY. He did this in Obamaesque fashion by "executive order" at the wee hours of night, so no one could debate it, or have input.

Remington was going to have to build a whole new factory to build this new firearm, so the 2000 job's are all NEW jobs, ones that NY could really use, especially in Upstate, where most cites are looking like Detroit- due to years of Liberal state leadership ( Upstate is Red- but the city is Blue- and more people live there- so they always vote to "steal from their upstate "surfdom" to pay the downstate monarchy) spending & programs and mandates, which causes us to enjoy the highest taxes in the country. Our young educated people, those that are well-to-do, retirees, anybody who can... are moving out in droves. We would have negative population growth except for Bosnian, Vietnamese, etc. immigrants. I'll be moving myself someday, I could make what I do now and enjoy a substantial raise.

SOOooo. When Remington was looking for a place to expand, why would they think about doing it here, in a caustic and unfriendly business environment where their 'Gov stuck it to them, and the taxpayers of NY with a grandstand event primarily to bolster any presidential ambitions. It was not with any of our, his ONLY constituents, interests in mind. He should have been figuring out a way to help them, the ripple of 80 million, especially in a depressed environment of partly his fault and now more so, is enormous! Because it does "trickle down".

I used to think Cuomo was a good guy, He has made some good, tough decisions, but he has proved himself not a whole lot smarter then our Commander in Chief, in office because he had a Dad who was governor, and has moved into the "total idiot" category.

I'm a libberralll and I own nine handguns, four rifles and two shotguns.
I shoot several times per week and belong to three guns clubs. I've been an NRA member since I was twelve.

Now, please be so kind as to not paint all lib-er-als as anti gun.

BTW, I reload all my brass and shotgun shells so I'm amused by how some vendors have become greedy. Bass Pro Shops are not gouging us, but DICK'S
is .

Please, we gun guys should stick together regardless of other differences.
