Several times I have seen this phenomena happen throughout my life and each time was amazing and forever remembered. We are only viewers of life not directors.
This is incredible, Frenchy! I've never seen, nor heard of this before! Thank you for sharing this link!

Absolutely right
How to put words on that? I can understand how the flock might do things sequentially but apparently they're all watching the big picture. Amazing and beautiful.
Awesome! But that doesn't even describe it. Thank you for sharing that
Thanks. That was beautiful.
That is a neat video. I have seen similar large flocks of
starlings performing their "aerial ballet" in the skies over Kansas and it is very interesting to watch.
About four years ago I came out of a supermarket to get into my car and I saw a huge flock of Starlings approaching from the southeast. There were birds stacked from 500 feet to approximately 1500 ft in elevation and stretching from directly over my head to at least 3/4 mile to the west of my location. I was amazed at the size of this flock, They were flying in a straight line coming from the southeast going northwest. It was about 30 minutes before sunset and the flock of birds continued to fly over until the sun disappeared and it got dark and finally it got dark as the birds were still flying overhead. I would guess that there were probably five or six million birds...maybe more. Truly unbelievable sight. And I thought Wild Geese were the only birds that flew at night.
Amazing, thanks for posting it.
Crows do something very similar to this; I live in western Indiana, about 25 miles from Terre Haute; we have a fair number of crows in our area, but you seldom see more than a few hundred at any one time; but every year, 25 miles away in Terre Haute, the crows come......by the MILLIONS! Or BILLIONS! On one occasion just to the north of TH, I pulled off the road to watch a huge "migration"? of crows; the sky was black with them, all flying more or less in a straight direction; there must have been a million in view, and they just kept on coming; my wife and I stood there and watched for almost an hour, and they were STILL coming! their "group" (or what ever you call hundreds of millions of crows ), must have stretched for 30 miles! On other days, I've been in downtown Terre Haute when millions of them descend on the downtown area; they're impossible to figure out; at the time, there was a very big Ford dealership that was out of business; the main building is huge, with a gigantic big curved roof; there must have been a million crows milling around on that one roof, yet on other big building right next door, not a single crow on their roofs!
I've always liked crows, probably because I had several pet crows when I was an early teen ager; crows are extremely intelligent.
I love all birds, and I go through a couple hundred lbs of seeds and suet every winter feeding them and the squirrels; and there are precious few animals that I'll shoot with a gun; but starlings, rats, and coyotes I will shoot if I have the opportunity; I DESPISE starlings! (Even though they are amazing fliers in their huge "murmurations". )

Blackbirds swarm like that each night at a local refuge, though never in numbers like the starlings. Equally spectacular is the evening swarm as a quarter to a half million Brazilian freetail bats leave their pearch under a major causeway to begin their evening hunt (although it's just the opposite with each bat going its own way, breaking free of the cluster). The subject video is a beautiful sample of the breathtaking beauty of flying creatures. In a different environment, many species of fish also swarm in the sea. Awesome!
Thanks for posting, that was amazing and I was totally transfixed
