I must confess that I have indeed eaten my share of lobster - and I have never eaten a locust as the Bible instructs - I cut my hair regularly - and hey - all you religious UHH members - have you made any "graven images" lately? Shall we light the fires or gather the stones?

[quote=magicray]Reality show snake-handling preacher dies -- of snakebite

[b](CNN)]/b] -- A Kentucky pastor who starred in a reality show about snake-handling in church has died -- of a snakebite.
Jamie Coots died Saturday evening after refusing to be treated, Middleborough police said.
On "Snake Salvation," the ardent Pentecostal believer said that he believed that a passage in the Bible suggests poisonous snakebites will not harm believers as long as they are anointed by God. The practice is illegal in most states, but still goes on, primarily in the rural South.
Coots was a third-generation "serpent handler" and aspired to one day pass the practice and his church, Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus Name, on to his adult son, Little Cody.

Apparently, he was NOT "Anointed by God".

This happened in an episode of "Justified". And it was in Kentucky, too.

The backwoods of Tennessee has it's share of snake handling also. The county next door-Van Buren- has many pentecostal churches in which snake handling is common practice. I haven't seen anything in the papers about them getting bitten, so I suppose they are good at it. My uncle, who was sheriff of White County for years, had many entertaining tales to tell about his run-ins with the snake handling preachers.

Give it up folks... when I read the article on the Net, my first thought...

WOW, CAN"T WAIT to see how this plays out on UHH..... you have not disapointed me....

Even to the doubters here, and "Lo" there are many... it should be evident that the Scripture does not say nor mean that we should do as the followers of this small sect of believers do... TEMPT DEATH in the following of their creed.

and to silvers post "God won't protect you from anything" that is an opinion rather than a fact, as my Belief that he does is also an opinion, There is absolutely no way to prove it either direction.... To go back and forth over it is rather silly and non productive...

And sometimes the will of Satan wins out.

If it's true that God created the universe and everything in it, that would include idiots. You should thank God for your existence.  Ok, there's my insult for the day.
