Hi All, I'm new to this but love the uglyhedgehog. I'm not a pro....more an opportunist that can't stop taking pictures. I have upcoming trips to the mountains and in spring to Hawaii. I have a CanonPowershot SX30IS and enjoy it. I have read some about filters and I know they are usually
intended more for the SLRs but is there a filter that would be beneficial to me? When I look at the accessories I get confused. I see all different kinds and costs. Any advice? I'm retired so price matters. Thanks!
Hi Grammyj,
If your camera has a threaded lens, you can benefit in the mountains and in Hawaii by using a good Circular Polarizer..
Research how to use one because they are not intended to be on your lens all the time, but they will reduce ocean glare and deepen sky color....
U could ,if U have photoshop...use the camera filter option that is in the program. Take Your pictures and edit in post production
Thanks for the quick response. I'll look into it. I want the pictures to be optimal.
I have Photoshop elements 6. I'll take closer look at it. Thanks
Hi.....Open Photoshop--go to filters--Click on adjustments, then Photo Filters. Hope this is what U had in mind.
It does appear to be polarizing filter available for your camera. It may require a $25 adaptor ring. The Canon filter listed is priced at $329. You don't need that particular filter. I believe you simply need to shop for a 66mm circular polarizing filter but figure out that filter ring first.
That's a great camera so just go shoot lots of beautiful shots. Take spare batteries and memory cards. And don't forget to take it out at night. Monopod with pistol grip ball would help you out a lot with that 35X lens.
I dug into the manual and I do need the adapter. I'm in the process of looking for filter and adapter. I'm excited and so very thankful for this forum!!! Many thanks.
