I found a photographer in the area with whom I simply adore her work, esp with kids. She is going to set up a pricing for online lessons. Since I have three kids I can't really run off to take pics (without one munchkin or 2) or go to a class. I'll follow assignments and she will talk to me on the phone and via e-mail about the pictures and help me understand my camera and composition. I came to her about this and she seems excited to have a "follower" lol - so she is down to helping me with this art.
Just wondering if anyone has ever done this and how much they paid.

I have no experience with a personal tutor. Sounds exciting though. Let us know what happens please.
It sounds like a great idea! Maybe a new business route for her. Keep us posted!

If she is interested in two students...let me know. I am new to photography and still using manual everything. By the way I am also using a d5000...Nikon.

You're smart to learn everything in manual because you will have a better understanding between shutter speed, aperture and depth of field that way. It will make you a much better photographer as a result.

You may be interested in this site. It is more for scrap booking, but they do have entry level photography classes on the cheap. And scrapping for your kids may be what you are really interested in. Good luck.

Learning dose not cost it paid, its what its worth to you. I been playing around with photography for three or four years now. Blow $100. on this a that, everyone has one you need. And where I've got the best teaching is, # one youtube.com ,
www.adorama.com (learning center Mark Wallace is great), Adobe TV, and it cost me nothing but time.

One option, though it might not be for you, is to join a photography club. Lokk for one that does "how to" pressentations and go on field trips/shoots. Often such club members enjoy photography and sharing information.
