I just bought this Leica Cl 35mm Camera with a Leitz Summicron -C 1;2/40 lens for $350 in an auction. I'm new to photography and excited to have found it at 48 years young. Does anyone have suggestions for me on what kind of pictures I should try to take with this camera, and if I got a good deal?

It's a good "deal" if it works properly. Highest and best use is probably available light street scenes including people in black and white.

Wow! Totally cool. That's the stuff I like to hear. Thank You so much. I'll be getting it next week. The review says it is working, and I talked to the lady who ran the auction. She seemed pretty nice, so I have a good feeling about it. I am only worried a little about the lens. What kind of film should I buy? Black and White 35 mm Kodak? Or do you have any suggestions. hi, Danny.
you have a great combination there. the cl uses a "semaphore" arm for metering. they tend to be easily damaged. so, just be aware, so you don't accidently come in contact with it when changing lenses. i know you only have one, right now, but i bet the 90mm is not far behind. with the 40mm summicron, you can use any kind of film you like, but it's a great black and white unit.
i think you are going to have a lot of fun with it. let us know when you get your leica m7!!

Thank You Very much. I got a tip for you gentleman. There is a vintage camera auction going on January 8th. got to auctionzip cot com and register. There in a ton of stuff. The funny thing is the pictures they took are horrible and I can read any of the lenses.
