I have been looking for some substantial discounts on photo equipment from any source but all I can find are 10% discounts. If you worked for the store you should get 20%. Is there a buyers co-op or anyone else that really offers to veterans and military a real black Friday markdown year around?
Ah sheitt... Another "givemee, givemee, givemee" !!!
Just because you're a veteran, you expect everything for nothing ???? Bullllllllllllllllll !!!
BTW, I'm a veteran too, but I don't expece sumtin fur nuttin !!!

Likely not; honoring the vet is just talk. Corporations and govt. really don't care what you did for them. As far as buying, wait until Dec. There will likely be better deals then. Take care.

I suppose you don't shop at any sales either genius.
Not that I'm familiar with. (I retired with 29 years). But good luck! Not since my early days have I seen what I thought were real discounts on cameras at the BX/PXs. Today it seems Target and the other big discount stores have similar prices and better variety than the on-base exchanges.
Everyone is having black friday sales; B&H, Adorama, Samy's, you name it they have it...and much more than 10% too.

This site may be of interest. Normally, nothing earth shattering, but there is different info.

The popular thinking is that when looking for bargains one should look for around 40% off. Your comments make you look ridiculous. (try your spell check sometime)

I don't remember reading about 40% in here - must have missed it. OK, I SEE IT; IT'S IN THE TITLE...... Now, i didn't expect a hell of a lot of free stuff when I got out in 1966, but the "Baby-killer" cat calls were enough to make me feel somewhat unkind toward a lot of people, including a lot of businesses. No I don't want 40% off, and I don't want shop owners to lose money on me. But I would appreciate a sign in a business that says, "Show your DD214 with Honorable Separation and get a 10% discount (or a free cup of coffee or a Speedie-Wax at the car wash)" just like the members of AARP, AAA and other COMMERCIAL organizations get. And what I'd really like to get for being a veteran would be a discount on things like COSTCO or Sam's Club memberships. As far as email orders go, how about an upgrade on shipping on a purchase over $500. Hell, the guy in a local restaurant served eight months as a REMF in Kuwait and gets 25% off every time the septic service cleans his grease traps!

None that I know of.
However, the best is our VA.
I get, needed, eye drops and chemo for a small skin cancer for eight bucks, instead of $137/month and $249 for the chemo .
God bless the VA
Rather than chastising someone for asking an honest question, why dont you all see if you can find out how much it costs to manufacture a particular camera, how much the manufacturer sells it to the retailer for and how much the retailer sells it for. Ill bet there is more than 50% profit on most items sold. I was a recruiting supervisor in a large city in the early 70's that had many manufacturing plants, we offered young people a four year tour of duty starting at about $150 a month. They could go to work, no experience, in a factory for about $8 an hour then. I dont believe my military pay ever caught up with the civilian wage structure, and they never had to go some of the places I went. During our current holiday buying frenzy the national news stated that retailers price their goods high and set a reduce sale price about 30% lower which could be 50% higher than it cost them, so buyers get no deal at 30% off the original price of a product. To me, looking for a 40% reduction or more isnt all that much to ask!
