I seldom get the chance to catch the moon cresting the mountain range, but when I came out of my son's house I got lucky.

At least you got to see the moon tonight! Nothing but a blur over here. Nice shot!

Thank you, as the moon continued its rise it then became obscured by clouds. I got lucky tonight.
OMW! I love it! I have tried so many times to shoot the moon and all I get is a white ball of light in a black sky...

The camera is confused by the brilliance of the sun reflection. Drop the ISO to 100 and speed 1/200th or lower. Just a little practice gets the craters in focus.

Here are my settings as I had gotten many a bright blur in the beginning.
S or SP mode, Shutter Speed 160, WB is sunny (for color) but I think the focal could have been better if my sharpness had been set in fine and not hard.
Keep trying and try different settings in both S/SP or A/AP with different shutter speeds to see what works and doesn't.
Thanks everyone for the compliments.
that is a real "Wow" shot!
I believe you nailed it! I really like it!
Great shot !!! if it were my picture I would frame this one.
Thank you both jdeanb and rsmith84
