You might want to try a different version of B&W, called Monochrome. Monochrome is where you manipulate the tones in the B&W image. Using color filters in post processing can manipulate the tones in the image:

I use the Nik Photoshop plugins, they work together seamlessly.

You and Mr. Smith are making a good case for refining color conversion to Monochrome rather than B&W. You've shown an excellent example of how tones are manipulated. I'm liking this better and better the more I learn from you guys. Thanks so much for the information. I'd like to see a few more examples of color conversions to monochrome. This is a good study.
