Can you believe I shot this in broad daylight?

Yep. I was in a shadow. The plant was in bright sun but directly behind it was an even deeper shadow. no pp other than to crop it a little tighter all the way around.

dandeleon. Duh.

Nice shot Tom, its almost like you had the black back screen and lighting set for the shot. Must have taken hours to set that one up just right.

You want to know something? I learned this from some one on this forum a long time ago. All you need to do is have a low ISO, wide open aperture and then punch it with a real fast shutter speed. That part is a little guess work. I lucked out and got it right first try.

My settings were: F5.6, ISO 200 and a shutter speed of 1/650 sec.

Nope! It only took a few seconds. This dandelion was closed up tight as a nun a few hours after I shot this.

Great job with the color . I seem to have trouble getting yellows to look ...well... yellow. :0)

Thank you. Yellows and reds are tough with any camera. I had a hell of a time with them on my Nikon d40x. But with my Sony, I don't seem to have this problem. Now I am not bragging by any means. I do seem to have a problem with colours near violet. I did read somewhere that Sony tends to desaturate their colours somewhat in order to give more realism?

Thanks! I saw the obvious staring me in the eye so I just had to take the shot before my helper picked it.

You've got to come back when this one is a puffball and shoot again the same way. Providing the lighting(shading) is similar. It would be an interesting pair of shots, don't you think?
