I took this photograph in May. We live in Oregon and back to the forest. I love that I can go out my front door and see what most people only can dream of seeing.
Second photograph was taken at Rockaway Beach Oregon. The problem I have always had is just catching the lighting right to show the beautiful blue-green that is the favorite spot to look at Ocean photos
Third photograph was taken of my Mother in Laws flower garden. She was sad she had to move, and said she would miss her garden the most. I took this photograph so she could have it with her where ever she would move. As I had a blow up done for her, I was surprised how many people that saw it thought it was actually a water color.
Any advice? I am happy I found a forum that I can learn from and share with fellow shutterbugs!
I am a newbie to this site, and to my camera. I just wanted to say that I thought your photographs are gorgeous!
I like them all, but especially the one of your mother's garden. I, too, miss my garden, and wish I had had my camera at that time so that I could take photographs of mine.

I too live in Oregon in Portland. I've been to Rockaway Beach and have critters in my backyard as well. I love the snapshot of the fawn, a rare candid discovery. Not crazy of the waves braking but who care what I like? The third photo is a fine flower photo with good color, composition, exposure & focus.
I think these are all quite good. I don't know what to tell you about what you need to do to get the colors you are looking for when you take the ocean shots. Maybe someone else will be able to shed light on that. I actually like the color it is. Is it a night shot? I fool around with photoshop elements on this one. Don't know if this is more what you were looking for. It's different anyway. I used auto setting for levels, color, and contrast. Hope you don't mind my fiddling with it.

I think the flower picture is great. What were your settings?

OH Yes that was more of what I wanted! Thank you. It was late afternoon, but you know the coast. Oregon rain and clouds galore.

Honestly, I just had it on AUTO. Again with the lighting in the back yard it was late afternoon. Sometimes when I photograph flowers I take a spray bottle and add some "on demand" dew.

I agree about the waves. It could have been much better. I love Rockaway. How about this photograph. Any advice?
These were taken in Lincoln City, the rocks add so much to the wave action.
It's a pretty shot. It is a little glared out by the sun. I have two versions...see what you think. On both I did auto levels, auto contrast, and auto sharpen. On the second edited one I added a cooling filter which makes it look a little pinker. I don't know what the actual colors were when you were there

I tried these, but didn't like the pink or the blue. Actually the color in the origional was "spot on" with the color of the sunset. I sure did like the Waves though!
Sounds like you're doing all the right things both with your photography and your editing. Keep up the good work. :D
