Hi fellow photographers.
I've been using Nikon film cameras and am LATE switching over to the digital world. I shoot portraits,... cd covers, book covers, and shoot for the modeling Agencies in LA , Miami and New York. My favorite photographers use Canon.
Should I switch over to Canon? One photographer said- If you shoot people- do Canon because skin tones and color saturation is better, and if you shoot sport stuff - use Nikon. Whats your opinion?
Greatly appreciated! Maria

Silly question I think if you've been shooting all the things you mentioned. Don't you have thousands of dollars invested in Nikon lens, off camera flashes, ect..???

I'm also in the market for a new camera. I'm looking at the rebel T3 as I am new to photography. The only negative thing I have heard about this camera is that it's very loud when taking pics. Can anyone verify and or explain why so loud?

I don't know about the T3. 2 years ago I bought the Rebel XS. It was my first DSLR, and the entry level DSLR for Canon. A lot of people said it was cheap, I would quickly outgrow it, etc ! Two years and 15,ooo shots later I am still having fun with it ! Any lenses I buy will fit on the next Canon when I upgrade ! As far as loud, don't know what they mean......the auto focus motor is a LITTLE loud, but that's in the lens ! The camera will beep at different times....when in auto focus and it focuses on the subject, when your shot is outside the best Aperture, but those can be shut off. Bottom line....it's and entry level camera, it'll take a couple years to get totally proficient with it.....if it does what you want and you can afford it...buy it !!

Sounds like for the subjects you shoot most often a Canon 5D MKII would be the perfect camera for your purposes.
I know pros that do celebrity portraits and commercial advertising work in the NY metro area and that's what they all use.
Heck, they even shot an episode of the TV show House in HD using a Canon 5D MKII.

My niche is shooting natural light and I have invested in only 2 lenses that have severed me very well. I am a self taught photographer and know very little, but what I do know- I do well.

Having said that,.. that my photography started out as a hobby and started making me some good money. I am a young photographer and want to take it seriously now and get to the next level. Having said that- I am willing to switch over to grow as a photographer and am now just starting to "ask questions". I'm at mariaphotography.com, I am going to take a my first photography class finally and now looking at investing in a pro- digital camera.
Thanks for the response.

:-D :-D :-D

Yes,... 2 - my wide angle lens 24-70 2.8 and the portrait lens an AF80-200 2.8. But I have 2 friends with nikons and I can sell them if need be. I'm looking about what would serve me as a portrait photographer and am willing to start over with my camera and lenses.
Thank you.

If you are in the business you should not have to ask that question.
