Hey Hedgehogs, it’s time for another Weekly Photo Challenge. This week’s is entitled Leading Lines*.
* Leading Lines Tutorial http://www.photographyblogger.net/leading-lines

The challenges are simple. You start with a theme, but the twist is that everyone needs to submit a statement with their photo that explains the ‘who, what, where, why, when or how’ they went through to get it. This helps us ‘feel’ the moment as you did, but can also help with voting. You might also find some great tips to make you better.

Remember this is about challenging yourself, pushing beyond your limits, so have fun and try anything and everything whether you are good at it or not.

Now for the legal stuff:
- Contests start Friday mornings and end Wednesday evenings
- Voting starts Thursday morning and ends Friday evening - 2 Day Voting!
- One original entry per user, and entries may only be used once. Repeats will be rejected.
- Photos MUST include statement as noted above. Untitled will be rejected.
- Post processing is fine, but please keep it to the absolute minimum
- Archived photos are not encouraged - please shoot your photo during the challenge
- Once voting starts there can be no additional entries
- To keep it fair, the user names and vote counts are hidden until voting is over and winners are announced.
- All votes are anonymous
(NEW) - A maximum of 250 entries will be allowed per challenge
- And of course, the rules are subject to change as the challenges require

If you need me, send a Private Message or leave a Reply here. Thank you all! St3v3M

Can you vote for your own photograph, I have noticed a lot of one vote entrees with a full share of the vote. And I have noticed photographs below them with 3 or 4 votes. It would appear that the ones with 3 or 4 votes did not vote for their own work or at least voted for others as well. Just wondering, regards Markymark.

Yes you can vote for your own photo. Should you? That's another story. You can also vote for more than one and if you do then your vote starts to get split. So if you vote for 3 photos each one gets .33 added to it instead of 1 full vote. So yes some people may be voting for only their photo and others may be voting for their photo and others as well and splitting their giving them less "points" I guess you would say.

Thanks for letting me know that, so everyone could just vote for their own photograph and you would have 200 entry's with one vote each, a 200 way tie. My only issue with this is that dosen't do the more photographic photos justice.

Except so far that has never really happened. Even if I don't submit a photo, I feel if I ever do want to compete then I'm going to participate by voting. Nearly ever contest has shown the top five photos are very deserving. It works.

No argument with the top photos, it is after the top 10 that I was considering. Again I just think that you should not be allowed to vote for your own photo, personally I agree with you.

Well, then I'll throw a wrench in the fire and you may change your mind, but hope not. When I am competing I tend to not vote. But I did notice that if I had voted and put all my power into the one vote on my self, I would have gone from 3rd to 2nd and does it really matter if you feel your shot is pretty good?

I totally understand your point. Sometimes debating an issue is good for the mind and body. I'd like to debate with you a little and I'll pick a side. But please understand, I'm not trying to say you are wrong, I'm just throwing out some other ideas.

By entering a contest aren't you selfish because you want to win or place highly? If not, why can't you vote for yourself if you honestly feel your shot is worth the honor because of the quality. You worked hard learning the craft. You worked hard to earn the money to purchase your equipment. You worked hard getting the right shot and using all of your knowledge to do the best job you can so it would be worthy of entering the contest. Aren't you hoping to win or place? Is that selfish?

Thank you I did enjoy the discussion with you, and yes I would like to place hire in the contests, but voting for myself just seems wrong.

There will always be at least one better than mine, and I'll always vote for it.

Hi

There is no point in voting for your own photo. It is not about the winning/receiving the most votes. Photography quality/ beauty is in the eye of the beholder within the group. I did receive one vote last comp but never vote for my own. Sometimes I vote for one photo I really like but there are many photos in my eye I cannot separate and will perhaps vote for more than one. When the results come out I then review to try and understand how perhaps I should approach the subject/next comp another time.

I hope that helps
