Good catches. This is one way to preserve history. It makes me think that the house may be older than my country.

Hi all Hogs who followed and commented on the photograph I posted of the old house. I have been able to ascertain it was built in 1600 and was named Old Crow Cottage. I am endeavouring to find out more about it. Bye..Regards Colin

En route to Wales each year we make a point of stopping to get a pic of this deteriorating property, 2 years ago we got out, looked round the back, those 2 cats were sitting in a flower tub, I was just about to photograph the also interesting outbuilding and a chap came out, non too pleased, but OK when we had a chat. He does live there, hes quite smart, middle aged and had a jacket and tie on, said he was fed up with people nosing about and taking pics. We passed it again yesterday,even more tumbled down with a fence around, his car was outside, we didnt stop.

Funny but I usually take a photograph on our way into England(the scenic route). Of allthe times I stopped there I never saw signs of life except for the cats.I would love to meet the owner because I am intrigued by the history and how this place got into the state of delapidation it is in.

If it was NZ, I'd say the lack of gutters and drain pipes.
The hole above the casement wouldnt make for a dry house either.

Hi TonyP If you look closely you will see what appears to be plastic rainwater guttering. Even if it were metal its strange given the house was built in approx 1600!! Mystery solved

Hi Johnofbrecon I have visited your website and read the history you have so painstakingly researched. I was amazed with the details you have unearthed and find that someone actually lived there in its condition amazing.I hope that people who followed my original photographs find the account equally enthralling.
