My dad would say that if the cows were laying down it was a sign that it would rain soon.
My grandad was a dairy farmer. They are the hardest workers I know. He used to tell us "little kids" that the brown cows were the ones that gave Chocolate Milk....LOL
I remember hearing that when I was 7 or 8 years old and I believed it.....for a long time.
..... Did not realise I have dozens of cow pictures (and one cow patty) in my archives!
I am never going to get to bed tonight, but I just had to share my buffalo patty at Yellowstone. My niece just walked away while I was taking it, she was so embarrassed.
Wonderful pictures of your daughter and "the kids". I loved going to Greenfield Village when I lived in MI but never was there for such live demos. Your daughter looks like she loved every minute.
She breathed oxen from the age of 12. She used the money she had saved to buy a new violin to buy her first team. Paul and Silas. She now uses John and David to keep her northern michigan drive plowed out, plus logging, and garden plowing.
country's mama...those are over the moooooooooooooooon
Thank you. The oxen are so much fun! She still has all but Paul who died at age 8. Silas is still kicking at age 13 or 14 I can never remember what year she got them.
I'm just a few miles from the home of the famous "Cowtown Rodeo", and I wouldn't be surprised of this bad boy is one of the stars there. There's nothing to give this guy some scale, but he's HUGE. And I've seen my fair share of bovines in my life.
Now you have done it. Asking for cows is worse than asking to see my home movies... Cattle and oxen were a huge part of our life while my middle daughter was growing up. Because of her I have a love of cattle particularly oxen.

LOL!! Ever slide thru one? Your pics are bringing back farm memories from childhood...and aromas!!
