With all due respect this is how I see such photogrqaphs. If one enjoys see the setting or rising sun, and or clouds then these peple might well enjoying looking at them. As your other reply mentioned the bottom of the second one is very dark and I'm not too sure that blue is an accurate color- okay, might be. Myself -if taking a picture of the above subjects I like to have something else there to give shapes, lines or defination. I take very few photo of this ilk but here is one that may be a poor example of what I am trying to express. That being said there are several that enjoy photographing and viewing such subject - for better examples I would encourage you to look at what they do and photo books. Thanks for sharing.

I also like to take pictures of sunrises and sunsets.
Most of the sunrises are taken on Tuesdays and Thursdays of the week due to doing safety patrols those days, and being up at 0430 on those particular days.
Sunsets are mostly only taken on vacation in Florida in May or October. Due to not being a good location at my home for them. Also depending on where we are in Florida I have taken sunrises over Tampa bay from Cocenicina Key,( not the correct spelling) with the sun coming up just to the side of the power plant in Tampa. We mostly go to the Tampa bay area on vacation, with a side trip up to Disney for a couple of days.
As far as your pictures and the other gentleman that replied to you I think they are great.
Here are a couple I took yesterday morning 13-Sept-11
Hope you enjoy, Papa Tait Seekonk,Ma.

Here's a critique - and again, with all due respect. . . these photos are boring. Sometimes it's tough to hear constructive criticism but more times than not you will learn a lot more form some harsh honesty than from people who over compliment.
When you look at your photos, ask yourself, "Would I print and frame this and hang it on my wall?" "Where would this fit in?"
So often amateur photographers see a scene (such as a colorful sunset)and think everything they see with their eyes can be captured in a 8x10 photo. Not an easy thing to accomplish. The most important thing, when you see scenes like the ones you captured above, is to compose your shot.
Look into some basic composition formulas (like the rule of thirds for example)and find ways to include the brilliance of what you are seeing into an appropriately sized rectangular image.
Make your photo "not boring." An eye opener for me was when I first tried submitting some of my photos to these popular stock photo websites. There are many of them - they accept photos from anyone but they first have you submit a small sample of some of your best work. They look at it under a microscope for clarity, composition, subject matter and a variety of other photographic details. After getting rejected many times, you start to look through your lens differently and then start to SEE what it takes to become a better photographer.
Hope this helps.

I can not disagree any stronger with doug's opiniop. But I do respect him for voicing it. These photos arent so much about a specific subject, a duck a flower, a car but they convey a mood. what that mood is , thats up to the viewer. I think for example the sunset with the electric pole represnents power, energy, vitality. the blue photo of the origional poster repreents serenity calm tranquility. there are 2 schools of thought in photography. photography as science and photography as art. you can see the strugle in the debate on hdr. the science guys are big on numbers technique for technique sake, want an accurate representation of a moment in time. Nothing wrong with that. I am however photography as art. we are less focused on numbers or teqnique except as a means to achieve our goal. we use smbolism and abstract approaches to reach our artistic vision. we will push hdr to its limits and beyond if it expresses our creative muse. whether or not a photo has a imediate center of interest or violates the rule of thirds is less important than the emotional reaction of the viewer to our work. By the photography as art or mood all these photos are good mood shots.

In my photos. I was trying to go for the all natural look. Your on top of a mountain with beautiful views not interupted by man made objects. If I wanted man made objects in my photos. I would take pictures in the city or something. Thanks for all the feedback.

Photos are about light, color and composition. I see photos like this and think if you want color get a crayon. As a colorblind photography I see the world a little different. Try converting your pictures to black and white. If there is nothing interesting, then all you have is a picture of a piece of colored paper.
