You've got a good eye. Here are a couple I took in Cancun over Thanksgiving.

No...just set up my tripod, which is kinda flimsy, and use a remote shutter release. It was really windy both nights so the clouds and trees and ocean have some blur to them, which I like. Glad you like them. Good luck and welcome to the Hog...

Here's one of my favourite night shots of my home town, Melbourne, Australia.

Beautiful...that's a keeper...especially like the monochromatic color to the shot. Well done.

It doesn't have much sky interest-- but it's been widely used silk-screened on a 6'x9' promotional display.

I'll re-shoot someday.... this was taken in my "early DSLR years" and in theory I know more now.

I don't know that it needs any sky/cloud interest. I love it as is and think it's super clean. Great blue sky to contrast the water and buildings/bridge. Great pic...

Thanks. Actually for what it's been used for, the clean sky is a requirement: Captioning and a logo would not work so well over a sky with beautiful clouds, etc.

Sometimes we can be too aesthetic.

I interviewed for a job in Portland in July, got the job, and wished I had a camera with me. Now, I fly up for a sales meeting Jan. 13-15th and will bring my camera. I just hope I can squeeze in some time for a few pictures. Will bring my tripod for sure.

Very pretty shot Charlie..My only comment would be that I probably would've cropped it to show less water. The water/land line is dead center. Otherwise, still really good.
