Received an email that the Nikon store has a 4 day sale of refurbished cameras. Z9 listed at $4499.95. Makes it a more difficult choice between refurb z9 and a new z8. I’ve bought many refurbs from Nikon and never had a problem. Decisions, decisions…..🤔

The question is...how big is your camera bag?

Actually the question is how big is your bank account.

Go for the Z8. Smaller, cheaper, better.

Not exactly better. Not exactly smaller because if you add the battery grip to the Z8 your about the same size.
Not exactly that much cheaper than the Z9 refurbished now selling for $4500.00.

The battery grip on the Z8 makes it taller than the Z9.

I had a D1x, D2Xs, and a D4s. When I got a D850 I was happy to have a removable the grip.

If I had to chose today it would be a Z8.

If I win the lottery I'll get one of each, maybe two.

The Nikon battery grip for the Z8 is not even on my "want" list, let alone near the top. As some people have pointed out, it's a bad design, not even as wide as the camera. I tried a grip on my D600 and sold it. All it did was take up space.

I like camera with built in vertical grip like the single digit Nikon D or the Z9. But I do not like the add on battery grip. So if I have or buy a camera with out the built in grip I won't add a grip.

if you think you might get the grip for the Z8, just get the Z9. Its battery is bigger and I do not mind the larger size of my Z9.

Gerry, YOU have ABSOLUTELY NO BASIS to make this statement, being unfamiliar with both. It's just fine to have an opinion, but nicer when based on facts and personal experience. Have a nice day.

Please accept my apologies for replying to a post. I'll try not to let it happen again. 🤣

from $4000 to $4500 is 12.5% more. I said go for the Z9.
