The bar has been here since 1933 and the restaurant opened in 1947. I was there in 47'.
That is called a "Special"- green pepper and sausage. There are many, many other options.

Thanks, Frank! I'll meet you there! However it might be a bit more than the 55 miles for you.

I do understand.

I grew up in Queens, NY in the 50’s and would go to Sal’s pizza two blocks from my house. Was recently back in the old neighborhood, and a very old Sal is still making his wonderful pizza! Back then his pizza was 15 cents a slice and $1.25 for a large pizza. Not anymore!

LOL
I drive 150+ for a Malt The Crown Candy Kitchen been in business and owned by the same family since 1905, my first visit 1944 I was five years old and Grandma lived around the corner.
The only place I know that makes their own Ice Cream, hand dips it and uses powdered malt plus you get the whole mixing can full and a glass to drink it from.

Prices have changed at Sal's & Vic's. However, the quality and care in preparation remains. Well worth the price and distance traveled! Preservation of
"The Good Old Days"!

That looks fantastic, a great pizza is worth the extra effort!
My two favorite places closed unfortunately.

I used to love "malted milk shakes and milk shakes" at several ice cream stores in my home town. i understand and I'd be willing to make the drive too!!

Enjoy my friend!! We are here but one time.

3 slices is now my limit with a wonderful tossed salad. However, left over slices get consumed quickly at home. Many times we order 2 pizzas to go and take home for the freezer. I have an old perforated pizza pan that keeps it crispy and delicious. Almost as good as being there.
