Ricoh/Pentax has another video out about their new film project

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XKLK1zbCzY

Good advertising.
I wonder what kind of reception it will receive?

This one mentions positive feedback from other companies. I wonder what that means? Could someone like “FujiFilm help them to produce ‘medium format’ film cameras again? What would that ‘help’ consist of??

Pentax know how to make a film camera. They proved that with the K1000 one of the simplest cameras to operate

I had a few K1000 and I always sold them for profit because they sell well but it's the camera I hated the most. I never actually used any of them.

I loved the Spotmatic, used it for environmental portraits, as it metered perfectly on the faces.

Incidentally, the “K1000” was essentially a new version of the “Spotmatic”, only in the new dress of a K-mount.

I didn’t particularly like either of them - as a mechanical camera, that design was basically noisy - I called it ‘clunky’ back then. They are now talking about producing a new mechanical camera if the new line sells well.

Pentax is on a retro roll. Film photography! Why not the bulb pole, exploding flash bulbs, baffles and hood, and long-tail tweed overcoat?

Maybe one of the ‘supporting manufacturers’ they talk about will produce long-tail tweed overcoats.

And throw in a straw hat and clay pipe.

The K1000 is a cheaply made Spotmatic or a cheaply made K series. I do like the KX a lot and I also like the spotmatic but I really hate the K1000.

But it's a good idea for the new Pentax to have the wind level (not a wheel and not motorized).

Personally, I purchased a Pentax “Super Program” in 1983 and used it as my primary camera for 12-plus years, then it became my backup, then I kind of forgot I still had it. I have started using it again, and it is like I temporarily stopped using it last week. The LCD is weak, but no worse than it was in late 1995….

I have a ME super (no program) it's fine. I like almost all Pentax before they made AF cameras. Except the K1000.
Now what I wonder is that where would Pentax make this new film camera? In the Phillipines like other cameras? I hope they make it in Japan.

Apparently they are now moving production of digital camera bodies to Vietnam. Their film bodies {K1000} were last produced in China!!

I have a similar story. I, too, purchased my first Pentax camera - Super Program, in 1983. I later replaced it with Z1-p, my favorite, which I will never sell. In 2003 I got *istD, the first Pentax DSLR and, since then, I switched to digital photography.

After using the “Super Program” for over 12 years, I ‘fell in love’ with Canon’s quiet FE-mount, so I used Canon for the next 20 years, and I was using Canon when I went digital, but 2 Rebels in a row went bad, so went back to Pentax in 2015.

I didn't know that although they made the lenses in Vietnam for a long time. So now we have Olympus (OM digital) and Pentax cameras made in Vietnam. Sony and Nikon make their camers in Thailand. So it seems China don't make that many cameras any more.
