I'm only going to sell locally, but I was wondering how much I should ask for this IMPROVED SENECA VIEW WITH STUDIO STAND.

5x7 format, with studio stand. Camera is from 1903, in working condition, but is offered as an antique. Bellows have been taped. Bausch & Lomb 5x7 lens & shutter. Chrome plated fittings. Includes an antique No. 2 Korona Folding Studio Stand. Gundlach-Manhattan Optical Co., Rochester NY.

5X7 is NOT a popular size for use and most probably would be for display rather than use........If you are not in a hurry to sell, I think you could ask $300 and maybe take $200. You can find this type stuff on ebay and look for yourself......

Do you have film holders for it and does it take standard film holders?
That would make it more valuable as a shooter.

Thanks for replying. No film holders. I believe it takes standard 5x7 holders. The problem with using it is a) possible light leaks & b) uncoated lens. It's probably only valuable as a display piece, which is why I originally acquired it. It's a victim of downsizing :-)

Well you may base your asking price on how much you paid to get it.

Do a search on eBay and go down the left column to "Sold items." Click on that, and you'll see what people have actually paid. Looks good!

I'd start at $1,500.00...it's a decent value if the camera is more than just parts.
The stand being thrown in should make it worth someone's while.

E=Bay has a few at a 1000 and one at 1500...without stand. Lenses are different...but no way to get an apple to apple comparison.

Try $1,500.00 ... you can always go back and drop it in another sale attempt later on.

He is NOT selling on ebay, it needs a bellows, film holders and lens for USE. Right now, it is just a pretty memory ......

It can't be sold as a user because of the bellows, and new bellows would be expensive.
Not all of these took standard Graphlex Riteway film holders , but many did, (it is the location of the grooves for the rib that you can check)
I think your instincts are correct to sell it as an antique. My guess would be $200-300 bucks. If that gets you your money back, I would take it.
Good Luck

"In Working condition" - famous last words of a seller ! He has no film holders or film ! .....The bellows are severely patched, doubt that the shutter works and even IF it did it is a poor lens - NO ONE would pay good money for this camera and film and film holders and TRY to use THAT lens ! - get REAL !

I saw one on ebay for 1500 and one for 1000.

It doesn't cost anything to raise a price...and wait and see.

Why Ebay is so useful.

I may have a 5x7 film holder and a 5x7 stainless steel processing film holder—the kind that fit in Kodak hard rubber developing tanks. Not sure how many of each. If you are interested let me know, I’ll start rummaging through the darkroom. May only be one or two of each. PM if you are interested.
