Forced "Upgrade"?

Windows did an update, and when it restarted, I was presented with the Win11 update screen. "You are in charge." Well, barely. I had two choices: update now; update within twenty-four hours. With no other toptions, I clicked n "Continue." Then I had to "Agree." I disagreed, and I was able to get by with upgrading.

I could understand if there were nice new features in Win11, but there are subtractions. I'll wait as long as I can.

Every now and then, when I start my home Win 10 PC, the "Upgrade to Win 11" screen pops up. I have Win 11 at work and find some of the "improvements" to be annoying. So each time I have to carefully navigate through the screens to finally find the "continue with Win 10" button.

In the Apple world, one needs to always ask: What piece of software or piece of hardware will I lose with the upgrade? Sad, since I love the Apple World. So, for me, I don't upgrade.

If what I have, does everything I want, then why should I upgrade?

When I look at my 2012 MBP and compare it with my M1 MBP, they deleted an awful lot. A dock is virtually essential, and so is external storage and maybe an external DVD drive.

I think you have just given a good reason to keep what works for us.

I'll wait, also. My computers tell me I cannot upgrade to 11 because of the configuration or soething missing or...

ANyway, since I cannot ugrade, I'll wait until my computers fizzle out or quit working and then, if I am still around, I'll consider buying new with the 11 already installed.

I held out for the longest time to upgrade my MBP to whatever is the latest OS, knowing that when I did I would lose something I am comfortable with. But I bit the bullet and did the deed. Lost several applications including Canon software that I used all the time, and a bootleg extension in Gimp that would not be supported. But I found work-arounds. Apple Photos now manages my pictures (and a lot more. I discovered that is a great program!) And i bought Topaz Sharpen AI on sale to replace the advanced sharpening and denoise tools that I lost in Gimp. Now I am quite happy I upgraded!
But not all upgrade stories are happy, I know.
