My mom saw and talked to Faron Young at a small town concert. Said that seemed like a really nice, considerate man.

I never listen to radio music while driving. It is all junk made by people with a certain look but no talent.

My favorite line to ask is when someone tells me they like Country music, I ask them..."What Country is it that you like?"😜

I am a die hard country music fan Grew up with my grand parents listening to the Grand Ole Opery on WSM 650 on Friday and Saturday nights. I have one rule if you ride in my car/truck Do Not Touch That Radio Dial.

If I remember correctly Faron Young was also known as the singing Sheriff. If it don't twang its not music.

WSM and WLAC--late night clear channel AM stations. Nothing better back in the ‘50s and 60s. Now while driving I listen to Willie’s Roadhouse on satellite radio a lot.

According to Willie, when he "previewed" Hello Walls for the gang at Tootsie's, everyone mocked it except Faron.
Willie offered to sell it to him for grocery money; Faron refused to buy it, and loaned him the money to be paid when he got the first royalty check. That was somewhere around $10-12,000. Faron could have just bought the song outright, and been that much wealthier.

We have to give Willie big hand for bringing a western swing sensibility to Nashville ... at a time when the brain-trust was trading fiddles for string sections.
