Fujifilm Service — Excellent

I sent my X-T2 into Fujifilm last week to have it serviced. The focus/shutter button was broken (specifically only the focus function was not noticeable anymore, you press the button and it went straight to exposure). I also requested that the sensor be cleaned. I had been using back button focus so I wasn't really pressed to have it repaired but I justified the repair in the event should I ever want to sell the camera or give it to my grandkids.
The repair was costly. I could have replaced it with an excellent condition used one for what it cost me. But, I bit the bullet and agreed to the repair.
I received the camera back yesterday and I can't believe that it's the same camera I sent in. It looks and has the feel of a new camera (serial number on the bottom agrees with what was sent in). In addition to the shutter button being replaced it looks like they replaced the upper control housing with new knobs and it looks like all the body skins have been replaced.
I sent in a 6 year old camera with signs of use (nothing serious) and essentially received back a new camera.
I'm very satisfied and impressed on how the end product turned out. I don't feel so guilty now having spent that kind of money on my X-T2. It will make a great backup now for the X-T4 I purchased a few months ago.
5 star rating ***** for this repair!

You did good on this. You know how you treated your camera and same cost used you have no history except clicks. Thanks for sharing experience

Good to know. I am still using an XT-2 as well. So far, no problems. But it is nice to know I can get help if needed.

I sent my X-T2 into Fujifilm last week to have it ... (show quote)

I’ve had a lot of “vintage” film cameras repaired/refurbished and most were under $100 with a few between $100 and $200. I’m curious what a digital camera would cost to service. What did the X-T2 service cost?

I also have an XT-2. Can you provide the address you sent it to?

Hi Stan, the total cost to have the X-T2 repaired (replaced top construction, includes all knobs and shutter button and they replaced the sensor DR Glass, there was dust underneath it), firmware update and whatever else they did that is not indicated on the summary repair report came to $508, includes tax $30.38 and Shipping $23.00.
It is a bit expensive but like I said it was returned looking like a new camera and now I have a great backup.
Thank for commenting.

Hi Andy,
The camera was sent to the following address:
1100 King Georges Post Road
Edison, NJ 08837
Tel: 1-800-800-3854

I went on-line to the Fujifilm website (USA) and completed a repair request. They provide the shipping label and shipping instructions.
