The Northern lights were supposed to be out last night but never showed...oh well...it was still a beautiful night to be outside. The shot is taken from up on the hill by my house looking toward the Whitefish Mountain Ski resort.

Wow Cindy does this bring back memories. Not sure what it is about this image, but it takes me back to when I was 4 or 5.
We were living in Three Rivers, MI and coming back from taking my Dad to the airport - guess just prior to us moving to Md. I was standing in the back seat looking through the back window and remember the pre dawn light and the upcoming sunrise driving down some highway - or freeway as it was in those days.

Not sure what the fascination was, but I was drawn to the scenery of light changing. I still can connect with that feeling, whatever it was. Comforting, contentment, wonderment, fascination, whatever. It left an indelible feeling that is hard to describe, yet obviously remains. Maybe just the colors, the dawn, yet peace at the same time.

This image takes me right back there. I still love the early morning light, and now living by the river here in WV it offers much the same environment; same, but different.

And a lot of opportunities for photographic possibilities as well- ever changing light, reflections, wildlife, etc. Or just coffee and living in the moment.
Thanks for the rememories!! ":}}}

Maybe that's what it is, now thinking about it. This image is peaceful. And beautiful. You live in a wonderful place.

Very nice Cindy. Following Facebook over the past two weeks has shown a lot of Northern Lights across our state. Even in Helena which I haven't seen in years. In AZ currently so I've missed them all.

Yes, but you didn't get sub zero temperatures in AZ.

I look at your image, Cindy, and I can physically feel my soul relax. That's why I'm in love with Montana.
