Southern Utah is a Mecca for National Parks. There is also the Great Salt Lake. You'll run out of time but you won't run out of sites to see.

How far do you want to drive? You could spend your whole life in Utah and never see it all! And even if you did, it would be worth doing it all over again! I used to live in Moab, but the whole State is WOW!!!

A short drive from Ogden is Promontory Point where the transcontinental railroads UPRR and CPRR drove the golden spike if you like history and railroads. They have functioning locomotive replicas in the round house and the NP service has an informative visitors center.

I always recommend this book to folks heading to Utah.

Try to add some time to your trip. You won't regret it.

This is the Place, Temple Square, Capitol building, Brigham Young's house, Great Salt Lake all are just a few minutes south of Ogden.
The area is rife with history all fairly close.

You are just North of Salt Lake City, close there is Hill Airforce Base that has the Hill Aerospace Museum and Antelope Island State Park that has Bison.
You are also close to Salt Lake City, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir practice Thursday Night for free, also must see in SLC is the Natural History Museum and Red butte Garden.
Just west of SLC is of course the Great Salt Lake, drive west about two hours from SLC and you will find a road side rest area, behind it you can drive down onto the Great Salt Lake, then a little further west is the Bonneville Salt Flats (but not much to see there)
Just south of SLC is Cottonwood Canyon.
If you want to drive a ways north of Ogden you can see where the Golden Spike was completed the first transcontinental railroad was completed.
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

From West to East state borders largest density of parks worldwide. Every state and national park distinctivly different. Most unique is the Wave and the White Pocket...will need permit, limited and some walking involved.

The Wave and White Pocket are very scenic places that are worth visiting. A permit is needed for The Wave but not White Pocket however 4WD is needed to get to the White Pocket. Both are located in Arizona.
Here's a photo I took at White Pocket a few years ago. (One of my Favorites)

How long are you staying? How far are you willing to drive? What do you like to shoot?

Salt Lake City is decent for Street photography, about half an hour South of Ogden. If you like to hike, pick a canyon or ravine and there’s probably at least one trail that goes up it. If you like birds, the Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area and Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge are amazing and within half an hour.

Farther afield, Yellowstone is a few hours north. The big five National Parks are about five hours south. The Uinta mountains are a couple of hours east; Mirror Lake Highway is a beautiful drive and offers a lot of great hiking trails. It’s one to two hours east depending on where you start from. There’s lots of great canyoneering south and east of the city. The Salt Flats west of the city are great for camping if you want to see stars.

That’s pretty early for lavender, but the Young Living Lavender Farm in Mona is really pretty. It’sa couple of hours south of Ogden.

Utah has the Big 5…probably the best single state for National Parks…but none are really near Ogden. SLC is close and has a lot of history and Promontory Point as noted.

When I was stationed in Utah at Hill AFB there were two things I found interesting. One, if you like outdoor scenery, take a drive north through Logan Canyon. The second thing interesting item is the "This is the place" monument, where Brigham Young decided that this was where the Mormons should settle.
