"Your Shipment Has Been Delivered" I got this email from FedEx yesterday, yet there was no package. As the picture shows, it was delivered to my neighbor. My neighbor discovered it before I did, and he brought it over. That driver has to work on his numbers. : )

I replied to the FedEx email, but they don't accept replies. At least I have Cat6 cables to rewire my network.

Amazon delivered my neighbor's package to my door often.

Fedex is, in my experience the worst. I recently had a package sent overnight that had to be signed for. I received a text Thursday afternoon saying it would be there between 8am and noon on Friday. At 12:05 Friday I received a text saying by end of day. at about 3pm I received a text saying that due to circumstances beyond their control it was being rescheduled for Monday. I understand that sometimes things happen outside of their control but what I don't understand is when I tracked it it was in Memphis TN about 1000miles from my house. If it was 1000 miles away why were they telling me it would be delivered in the next couple of hours forcing me to take a day off of work for a package that clearly wasn't coming. I tried calling Fedex with similar results as you received. I've had 3 or 4 similar experiences just over the last couple of months. I asked the supplier to use a different carrier to no avail.

Everyone is passing things off to other carriers in their effort to be efficient and cheap. The 3rd party door dash people are the worst. Delivery notification doesn't mean too much when you REALLY don't know WHO dropped it off.

I live in LA, CA. Lots of apartments. I'm on one.
The apartments need a passkey to get in. ALL the major carriers have these- no problems.
Those ESL door dash guys? Nope.
Fedex also denied a claim immediately until I sent them a pic of the FOOTPRINT and the smashed corner.
Plus somehow one driver kept trying to drop my package at a nearby address. No joy.
Fedex then updated my account with the new bad address-
and somehow my invisible psychic friend should have notified me.

Had a Fedex unexpected delivery last week. Turns out it was for my neighbor across the street. (Odd one side, even my side)
I ran out before he left and showed him his mistake.
Ah yes. He realized it and said they look at some other number on the label beside the house address.
???

I had a package not arrive last week...I checked the tracking...
It said...Undeliverable. Well, that was a new one on me...considering we have a guard and a digital log system for packages.
I shop with two layers of refunds in play so that's not an issue...but it is a pain never the less.
I think we have a new driver...they will get it.

FedEx is getting absolutely ridiculous, and I drove a tractor/trailer for them a few years ago. I had a monthly supply of medication sent to me that "absolutely, by federal mandate because of the type of medication", must be signed for by an adult. The driver tossed it over a locked gate and left it there. It was in sight of and available for theft of anyone that walked or drove by, and within 25 feet of a school bus stop. If any kids got to it it could be serious as well as my lack of my meds. Complaining to their customer service is a joke. The local Stockton office supervisor doesn't even have the courtesy to call me back. Maybe a multi-million lawsuit because a child got the meds and got sick would help get their attention. When I worked for them we were never allowed to leave an item unless it said ok to leave in the paperwork. How things have changed!

It seems to me that Fedex is the one that I have had problems with too. I live in a complex and it seems like the drivers just park it on any doorstep thinking the neighbors are honest and will get it to the right place.

Lots of that in past two years,Jerry

I had 2600.00 CND dual fuel 240LBS generator that was supposedly on a pallet, delivered to my address not once but twice. The second time on different day at 6:40pm in November last year.
DHL delivery times end at 4pm.....
The company is DHL, Amazon eventually sided with DHL and even suspended my account for pursuing the matter. Luckily the Visa refunded me for full amount, less 21.00 cnd.
I have Amazon camera system (4 cameras) and we were all home on the days of alleged deliveries. Oh and Amazon seemingly restored my account without as much as an apology as it nothing happen! Again, my disappointing experience is with DHL Canadian section.

Here is an UPS story. Our mailbox is at the end of our drive a block and half from the house and sits on a street not easily seen by the residents of the only house somewhat close to it. After several times of having packages left in plain view (an easy access) to anyone driving by, we paid extra to have our packages dropped off at a local CVS store. You'd think that would simple enough, but nothing is simple these days. I had a package of fountain pens and ink set for drop off at CVS. A message comes from UPS that our package was ready for pick up. I burned up my gas getting out to CVS only to be told by the clerk that it hadn't been dropped off at their store. He said that this sort of thing happens on a regular basis, UPS will say they have left packages when they haven't. Another clerk working nearby said that the other day, the UPS driver signed her name to the drop off acknowledgement form. The only problem was that she wasn't even at work that day. The pens and ink did get delivered to the store the next day.

One of the causes of misdelivered packages is the pressure the drivers are under to be fast. Companies of all kinds value speed over accuracy. Management is the cause of lots and lots of problems. Speed and profit receive too much emphasis.

Speaking of speed, I don't know what's happened with Amazon Prime, but I can't remember the last time I got two-day delivery. I receive packages several times a week, and they generally take a week or more to arrive. Sometimes, the site will say, "Order in the next 7 hours and 28 minutes and receive your item on Thursday." I place the order, and they say I'll receive it on Tuesday.

Before I retired I always had a little trick up my sleeve with bosses. When they had a few of us working on a project the boss would call and ask me about how soon we were going to be done, and I would say, oh, we've still got a lot of work to do. It will take hours. Then, about an hour later I would call the boss and say, "we're done." The whole idea is to make them think that it will take all this time and then when we got it done it would make us look good. I think that is what is going on with some companies. They will tell you it takes longer than it takes, then when you get it you are really happy.

As far as the idea presented above about pressure on drivers to get it done quickly. I think that is definitely correct. The people who get the job done quickest are rewarded, and they ask everybody else, "why can't you be that way?"

It is just the way human nature is.
