Where is the Frozen Dead Guy and why???

The rowdy Frozen Dead Guy festival has been moved from Nederland, CO to Estes Park, CO but the frozen dead guy remains in a Tuff Shed in Nederland.

Here is an excerpt from a poorly written news article explaining this troublesome transition but you can google it if more info is desired:

Family members have financed the preservation of the body on their property at an elevation around 9,000 feet above sea level in Nederland, CO for three decades, paying $1,000 a month for dry ice hauled from Denver by hired caretakers. The ice is packed into an insulated box in the stalwart gray, red-trimmed Tuff Shed, where a red-blue-and-white Norwegian flag droops Daliesque from the rafters. Their motivation: enabling cloning in the future as human technology advances to allow resurrection.

Nederland became the Frozen Dead Guy Days festival in 2002. Owned by Nederland locals, it featured coffin races, a hearse parade, Bredo (the dead guy) lookalike contests, brothel bed races, ice bowling and icy cold plunges et al. But, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival itself became a casualty, canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to public health concerns.

Then, in 2022, an estimated 22,000 people, including scores who drove up from Denver, overwhelmed Nederland, which has fewer than 200 motel beds and a population of 1,523. Festival organizers, to prevent cancellation this year, sold the festival to Cullen, who has owned the historic 1909 Stanley Hotel since 1995, when he bought it from foreclosure for $3 million.

BTW, the Stanley Hotel was the old hotel in the movie "The Shining" and they want to move the body there eventually. Don't blame me for the goofy errors and horrible sentence structures in the article.

"The Shinning" was actually filmed in a studio in England with the exterior shots being that of a lodge in Oregon. The Stanley was one of the inspirations for the film due to a mysterious explosion in one of the rooms that has never been explained. King also spent a few months in the hotel while writing some chapters of the novel. Itis well worth visiting even without a frozen man. A Stanley auto adorns the lobby and a wood stove invented by Stanley is located on the lower floor. This stove was high tech in its day and a big improvement over the wood stoves of that era.

Colorado also has Mike the headless chicken festival. Maybe the people have too much free time or smoke too much vegetation.

If ever in Nederland, don't drive drunk below the dam. If you drive into the river, you'll go 700' straight down. One more frozen body.

So is the "here's, Johnny axe", but I'm not sure if it is displayed.

It will just be a matter of time before the govt makes dope smoking mandatory. Hallucinatory mushrooms are the big attraction now but I think you have to be over 10 to buy them.

😲 This has the making of a movie where the dead guy is resurrected in a dystopian future where he is worshiped as a god.
