This girl has been living around our house for a few weeks now. I first saw her on the front verandah where she built an egg case which hasn't opened yet. She's now moved around to the back patio where she's been for four days now, changing her spot each day. She's very used to me now and loves to pose...

Great set, Ron. I'm still waiting for the insects to get active here. I'm only seeing Carpenter Bees. Ain't that great?

Thanks Ken, I've found insects are nowhere near as plentiful as they were a few yeas ago...every day I do the rounds of our garden and a lot of days I don't even turn the camera on...I've discussed this with friends in the Museum, they also know it but can't offer any thoughts on why...

The explanation is simple: man. I will stick to the science, not the politics. Global warming, a/k/a climate change, pesticides, encroachment, pretty lawns. Try those as starters. In live in the Chicago area and see the same things. I can count only on a few bees for insects. I have a lot of milkweed planted but saw about two monarchs last year. My bird population has dwindled to mainly sparrows and finches. My days of being a backyard photographer are just about done.
