Week ending 2/26 Softball

Had a chance to shoot some softball this week. Used the Z9 paired with the 100-400 f4-5.6 S lens. Doing a bit of post processing I could get images from under the lights. Actually better than I thought. However, it definitely performed better in daylight! I am sure there is a "sweet spot" in regards to daylight. I picked up a lot of shadows from the batter's helmets but the fielders came out much better.

Night shots were taken at 1/800 - 1/1000, ISO 8000-10000 as wide open as the lens allowed. Shutter speeds were slower than I normally shoot and the ISO higher. But at least I was able to get something!

Rick these are so nice, especially at 8000/10000 ISO. Like the ones at first base good captures. Keep it coming. Thanks BE SQARE!!

Excellent Peak of Action shots!
Shots 5 & 8 demonstrate the very narrow differences between out and safe.

My compliments for capturing so many ‘moment of impact’ shots. Is it a super fast frame rate or some timing thing you’ve developed?

Great work. I particularly light the expression captured on the first one of the pitcher. Timing on all is good. Did the two at first base come in safe?

Thank you. One of the cardinal rules of sports photography is "Know your sport". I look for specific situations and best as I can try to plan my shot ahead of time. The fast shutter speed helps increase my chances of getting the shot I wanted.
