I like transforming shots into B&W. Sometimes I will work with a shot for a while and feel it just doesn't work in B&W and ditch it. Some shots seem they were made for B&W.
I agree with you...to a point. Generally, I don't like B&W. #'s 1, 5, and possibly 7 Look good in B&W. I am very glad that I see in color! And usually am not interested in portraying the world in anything less than full color!! But that's just me. No pressure on anyone else.
Nice set!
Great work! I like all of them.
Count me as a fan of BW, which is really a misnomer, because most “BW” photos are actually monochrome.
It’s a beautiful form of art.
I like to plan ahead, when shooting, that an image will be BW. And I still shoot film so it’s automatic if I’m shooting BW film.

The houses on the waterfront and the first woman certainly do. I'm not as convinced about the others. And I agree that sometimes monochrome excels.

After looking at them in "download" form, I'm even more impressed with the first woman - if you crop in to just her face, lower part of the hat, and hand. Then it becomes a really nice shot. Try it.

Did he ask for criticism? After all, there is a photo critique section for that. Just saying.

What a masterpiece collection.
You have inspired me to start B&W again.
Thank you.

Not criticizing. Admiring. When I criticize, you will definitely know that I have. And criticism actually means to examine, not to denigrate. I examined, thank you.
Excellent B&W series, Mike, even though I am not a fan of B&W.

Call it what you want. You suggested changes for what you thought would be improvement, based on your opinion. The danger is people might refrain from posting here if they see people doing that to other’s images. There is another section here on UHH for that.

I don't mind at all. Although I do a little commercial work -- birthday parties, engagement parties, corporate events, etc. It is usually only a couple a year with about 98% of what I do is for myself. That being said, at 72 I still like learning and if someone has something educational to provide, it is always welcomed.
Very well done, Mike! All good shots and most really show well in B&W.
