On our trip to Arizona recently, we checked out the Valley of Fire. We were not disappointed. It is approximately one hour northeast of Las Vegas off Interstate 15. "The park derives its name from the red sandstone formations which were once sand dunes."

Amazing geological activity formed these formations, in some areas older rock lies on top of younger rock formations due to thrust over faults. This area is a photographers and geologist's dream.
Beautiful images, looking foreword to more.

Good morning. In your visit to Valley of Fire, you saw things I that I missed when I went there several years ago. Your photos capture the variety of landforms and erosion activity on display. Inspired, I now feel the urge to re-visit VOF next time I go to Las Vegas. Thanks for sharing.

Dennis!

Very nice images! I especially love the swiss cheese look of the sandstone formations. Reminds me of our Death Valley trip in 2014; it's the closest site to Las Vegas which was our home base for a few days!

On the day we were there, two wedding shoots were going on. My wife was able to grab a couple of shots with her Fujifilm bridge camera.

Be well! Ed
