And regarding number 2, I’m opposed to hitting children (and women and animals) on principal, but another consideration is that at some point, they may grow up to be big enough to kick your a$$ (like my son, who was a heavy weight wrestler in HS and college).
I believe a little bit of pain for misbehaviors are fine.
Over doing it is not. Just got to find the right balance or learning the lesson and the consequence but not getting hardened in the heart.
