I learned 2 life lessons today;

1. Everything is expensive after a vacation &
2. Don't spit up to the ceiling

Feel free to add you own.

A good husband's lessons:

1. Yes dear.

2. I was wrong dear.

3. That dress does not make you look fat.

#3 can backfire drastically. As in "OK, what does that dress make me look like?!"

Since the "Dollar bill ads" are talking about Trigger's boss, Roy Rogers.

3. Do not squat while wearing pointy spurs.

Unless you wanna get wet, don’t give a kid a water gun.

Little kids lie. Ask a kid with a half eaten cookie in his hand and crumbs on his face if he sneaked a cookie and he will tell you no with a straight face.

If you like to beat your kids, don’t enroll them in martial arts because they learn how to block your moves and roll with your punches. Very frustrating!

If you lose your kids at Walmart, first look in the middle of the circular clothes rack. They love to hide in there and make you frantic. When you find them you don’t know whether to hug them or beat them. If you choose the latter, remember the previous fact. You don’t want to embarrass yourself in front of other parents when you try to beat them and the kid keeps blocking your blows.

Your last one is soooo true - been there done that. Very embarrassing (and scary) to have the store make an announcement about a lost child who finally emerges after half an hour from under a clothes rack.

And regarding number 2, I’m opposed to hitting children (and women and animals) on principal, but another consideration is that at some point, they may grow up to be big enough to kick your a$$ (like my son, who was a heavy weight wrestler in HS and college).

I believe a little bit of pain for misbehaviors are fine.
Over doing it is not. Just got to find the right balance or learning the lesson and the consequence but not getting hardened in the heart.

My third daughter had a habit of wandering off when we were in the Farmers Mercantile in a small town we lived close to, this led to a harness and leash, we did receive a few snide remarks about this, but she was safe!!
at age 5 the harness was used only when we went to a bigger city because it was easy to spot her blond hair just a little above counter level, One day she had wandered off a couple of times, scolding didn't work, the next time I caught the owners eye and motioned I was going to hide after about 5 mins of not being able to find me she panicked Stanley was watching the front door and I was by the back door, I finally called her and she almost knocked me over. Lesson learned she never again wandered off !!!

It is better to be silent and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

I learned early when I was a lad that "F---" was a bad word and not to spit on a hot lightbulb. There are just some life lessons that we must learn the hard way.
