Anybody using this software? If you are, I would love to hear your thoughts about it.

I bought the new version yesterday and have spent some hours examining the new features. I've kept a copy of AP available for use since it was first released and use it occasionally. Bottom line for me is that AP is a raster editor focused on editing RGB images. As such in a raw workflow it is a destructive editor and I'm going to avoid using it unless I have no other choice. That situation arises for me rarely so I use it rarely. When I need it I'm glad I have it and given it's cost is so low having it is a non issue.

I recommend it with this comment; AP is an excellent raster image editor at a ridiculously low price and if you need what it provides by all means it's the best bang for the buck raster editor going. For Pete's sake with the new version discount it costs the same or less as buying pizza for the family.

Version 2's new masking features are excellent and substantially enhance the tool's functionality. Easily worth triple the entire pkg. cost alone if you're going to use them. That's the biggest version 1 to version 2 improvement and it merits a big round of applause for the development team.

What's missing?
1. Any kind of file management -- even an image browser would be nice. So that's not hard to supplement from another source.
2. Adequate raw file processing needed to get a raw file converted to an RGB image where AP shines. Again not too hard to supplement from another source.

Version 2 has made one substantial improvement to raw file handling and it is big deal. AP provides what they call the Develop Persona or Develop module that will open and convert a raw file to an RGB image. In the previous version 1 that Develop module discarded any work you did in the Develop module when you committed the conversion -- shockingly unheard of. They've remedied that in version 2 so that you now have the option to save your Develop module work and re-visit it to tweak adjustments. Still the implementation is only partially non-destructive and so using AP means accepting occasional destructive processing.

Given that improvement the AP Develop module remains feature poor such that I would recommend using alternative software to convert a raw file and then use AP for any additional processing.

Ap is a great raster editor at a fantastic price but ideally supplemented with two front end additions: some kind of file management and better raw file conversion.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I primarily use Photoshop for all my editing when I am home at my Desktop PC. I was looking at the possibility of using AP to edit some photos on my IPad Pro when I am away,on the road etc. I know Photoshop has an IPad version but I don't think it's quite there yet. Your right, you can't beat the discounted price going on right now.
