Final game for both teams for district play. The white/purple team had to beat the blue team by 9-points to enter the playoffs as the 4th district seed. The other team, win or lose was already the 3rd seed. The white/purple team ended up losing 66 to 45!

Rick:
One word FANTASTIC!!!! Well maybe more than one word. These shots are your best to date. How many were taken with the 400? Excellent colors, action, filling the frame. What a difference it truly makes when we all shoot tight. CROP VERY VERY LITTLE I have always said. Must be Jim is in my head because when I first started with MP that's what was instilled in my brain. To this day I can hear him, especially when I am shooting a game.
Again wonderful work.

Thank you for your comments and taking a look! It was nice to shoot in daylight, though mid-day but something other than stadium lights.

Thanks Gampa for your comments, love your work too! I was blessed for the first time in my career to have a football game at noon!

Thanks Jules, your comments are always appreciated here on the forum! Makes a difference when the light is there and majority of your photos the iso is at 100! For the photos I posted, 3 were taken with my 70-200mm and 6 were 400mm. Probably 20% of the photo's I posted on Maxpreps were with the 70-200mm (all around the end zone). I did very little cropping, if I did and the play was beyond 40yds (using 400mm) I made sure the iso was really low (below 500) and verified the image at 100% did not lose any detail or bring in noise.
Yeah shooting tight is the key word and being patient for the action to come to me (you preach this all the time, I know). What I have done when the action is too far away from me is I start taking pictures up and down the sideline with my 400mm or near me on the field because all of players are doing all sorts of things with arms, jumping up and down, their helmet is partially on, you know the mommy shots that occur during the game and between the action at times that's too far away for my lens reach.

Yes it's kind of what I do too. Always searching for the mommie shots that mom must have.
