Dear UHHers,
This Weekly Challenge covering October 10 - 16, 2022, is being posted at this time because I will be in an area Monday where my internet might not be working or may be sketchy, at best. Please do not post in this challenge until Monday. Instead, enjoy posting in the Challenge: Free/Sunday for today!
As Autumn is such a multifaceted season, so too can people's opinions of it be. Your job in this challenge is to photographically show us what Autumn means to you.
Since I retired in 2020, I have been spending a great deal of time at the house my parents bought in the town of Fish Lake, Indiana in 1959, when I was five - just a wee tadpole.
Since Dad died in '76, I have had the responsibility of doing all the October buttoning up such a property entails. Since there is only a space heater, no hot water, no shower, and especially no insulation, the whole house gets winterized and closed until early March. Moreover, all the stuff that has accumulated outside throughout the year has to be put into my shed. Finally, I need to maintain the yard - and everything that entails. So what you will see posted from me here are not beautiful shots - but rather mundane ones. That's because for me, Autumn means w-o-r-k! Further on in this challenge, I will attempt to post some beauties so you know I’m not a party-pooper!
Have some fun, and show us your Autumn spirit.

I help an elderly neighbor by picking up the apples which fall from her tree every year. 1700+ this year!
I uproot all of the annuals that decorated my yard in the past year from my nine flower beds.
I have 100-125 lilies and irises, and 90 hostas, whose leaves I trim down to the ground.
At this time of year, millions of needles are falling like snow from these guys - and need removal.
A hundred square feet of these also to be trimmed to the ground. Each needs the loper as the stalks are like pencils made of iron.
My black walnut. Nothing this year. Last year, over several weeks, I picked up in excess of 3,500 drupes!
Left, my neighbor's. Right, mine. Both generated over 1,600 large cones which had to be picked up weekly before grass cutting!
My pumphouse. Have to clear away everything that found its way on top over seven months. Then dismantle all the now stuck pipes, put pump in car, and then in my warm basement back in the city for storage.

All about the light for me in Autumn!
I love the light of Autumn!
Sun at a different angle in the sky give you chances at new views
Wouldn't have seen this guy surrounded by branches if not for the new angle of the sun.
An eye-catcher, but from the other direction? Nothing.
Caught my eye - but I missed the light the way I wanted it in the shot.
For years, this tree near my Fish Lake place has been providing a dazzling Autumn spectacle! This shot doesn't do the color justice, believe it or not...
Not the clearest shot, but it was back in the trees a ways and reminded me of stained glass.
You are one busy man Joe! Hope you an get everything on your to do list done.

Oh my, Joe! You make the vultures look good. And the trees are beautiful. I agree, that one shot looks like stained glass.
I will be gone most of tomorrow, Columbus Day, AKA Indigenous Peoples' Day. Time for leaf peeping. Here are some recents from Maine. Autumn means many different things to me. Like Joe - trying to button things up before winter sets in AND enjoying the beautiful colors, fairs and fall foods - like apples, squashes etc. It also means trying to walk outside as much as I can while the weather is good.
Looking up on my "walkin road"
The river along my route.
