I am 77 y.o., living in Western North Carolina. My interests have been landscape - mountains, moving water - also macro and old stuff (vehicles, buildings). With a recent move to a city - Asheville - I am doing more urban photography. I also am doing more black and white images than I have done in the past.

Hello Peter. There are various subsections in this forum - the ones that may interest you are the Landscape Photography section, Traditional Street and Architectual Pbhotography and Black And White Photography. To access them, go to the Home page and scroll down to "All Sections". There is also an All Sections link at the bottom of every page.

Welcome to our UHH. I am sure you will enjoy it as you can both learn and laugh with it. I am quite sure that I am speaking for all our fellow hogs out there when I say we are looking forward to seeing some of your pictures. Just remember to take all criticism with a grain of salt as some of our members think that they are the only photographers out there that are worth looking at but this is only about 1% of our members.

Welcome Peter. Since you’re new to Asheville, be sure to visit and photograph the interior and exterior of St. Lawrence Basilica (photography and entrance allowed) - a truly beautiful church with historic architecture.

You are now in an area with a wealth of photo-ops, so we will be watching for them.
As soon as it is cold enough to light a fire, go visit the "Great Room" at the Grove Park Inn. At either end of the room is a fireplace large enough walk into standing up.
