MP4 vs MPG

I sent someone some mpg video files, and he said he can't watch them. He needs mp4. Should that be an issue? Other people are able to play them. I'm not going to convert thirty files for one person.

Tell him to download VLC player (it's free) and play away.

That's what I told him.

PowerDirector does not support mp4. That's odd. I had to edit some of the videos using PD, and they're mpg. The others are mp4.

You can always use Handbrake to convert them.

Yep. Two of the most important video tools you can use are VLC Media Player and HandBrake. Both are open source and run on MacOS, Windows, and Linux. I install them on all my computers, and have kept them updated for many years.

Use HandBrake when you need to convert.

Mpg is ancient history. Super-easy to convert to something decent using Handbrake.

Yes! And you can add Irfanview to that list - with the Add-Ons.
