Not quite alto - Melody C or soprano sax. Miles bought it for him when he left the group in 60'.

Always loved this track. This is a classic! As much as I love Wynton, I wonder why Bill Evans isn't on the album somewhere. I don't recall if Bill and Miles had any major disagreements, do you?

Not aware of any. However, McCoy performs beautifully. I recall Miles had quite a few different groups/piano players. Bill was on "Kind of Blue".
