I sent this lens along with other Nikon stuff to MPB, they returned this lens because they said it did not auto focus, I had already traded my Nikon cameras so was unable to verify this. The lens is the original all metal 105mmMicro Nikkor f2.8, no mars, no scars, no scratches or dings on the lens, rubber is excellent, comes with both caps plus a UV filter. I think a fair price after researching on EBay would be $100 plus shipping. Will take a personal check or you may use PayPal.

This is an autofocus lens. It is from the generation of Nikon lenses that require a motor in the body to autofocus. See the coupling in the attached image. This lens will autofocus when used on any Nikon Full Frame DSLR such as the D600, D610, D700, D800, D810, D850. It will also autofocus on the D7xxx crop sensor (DX) cameras). It will not autofocus on the Z cameras, even with the FTZ adaptor, but it would still make a fine manual focus lens on those. I believe that there are enough compatible cameras in circulation to give this lens some value. It can also be used as a general purpose short telephoto/portrait lens. Most people would use manual focus for macro shots, and that's an option too. You can disable the autofocus on these cameras. I'm not sure what the setting on the lens for Manual or Autofocus does. I can't find the instruction manual online. The same setting on my 55mm f/2.8 AF lens just adds some friction to the focus ring.

The two macro lenses I have auto-focus but not when entering "macro mode". That is push the little silver button.

Yes...I do often manual focus for macro shots!...but sometimes, the "AF" is efficient for macro..then I don't do "Manual focus" I would like to buy Your 105 micro nikkor f2.8 if it can "AF" when mount on a Nikon D7200
...but shipping would be to France...Do You believe this deal could be possible????

The answer is: it depends. Auto focus can be useful at lower magnifications. At high mags you lens will be manual focus or the autofocus will be useless. One moves the camera usually on a rail to focus.

Let's remember that the OP wants to sell this lens. When I posted, I was refuting what MPB said. It is an autofocus lens.

According to his post they said it did not autofocus...not that it wasn't an autofocus lens.

Point taken, but you have to consider that the person examining this very old lens may have been inexperienced and mounted it on a camera without the autofocus motor. One test without a camera would be to turn the focusing ring on the lens and seeing if the screwdriver slot at the base of the lens also turns.

Working PROPERLY this lens will auto focus. I have one and use it on D7100 and D7200 bodies.

My understanding is that it will autofocus on many cameras, but it will not work with the focus shift feature on the D850.

The D850 is the only F mount camera that has this feature, and you're correct. It will not work. It will still work for conventional macro photography.

Thaz clearly incompetence on MPBs end.

BTW the MF-AF ring on that lens is there cuz it has shaft coupled AF. Theres no full time override. Its strictly either-or.

You imply that the MF-AF ring decouples the autofocus shaft in the lens. I'm not sure that's true. I have a 55mm f/2.8 AF Micro from the same era, and the same ring on the barrel simply adds some friction to the focusing ring in the manual mode. I can't find a user manual for the lens being discussed to confirm that here.
