One heck of a good lightning storm last evening. The fourth image shows a ground fire resulting from a strike in the valley west of our place; probably some unfortunate tree got fried!?

Images captured from 4K video.

People quite often only see the main 'thread'. The camera captures all the action!

Enjoy!

Outstanding images!! Great idea to use 4k to get the stills, never missing a strike so to speak!

Try as I might, I see no ground fire in picture #4.

It's at the very end of the strike - showing on the dimension of the strike, only, and obviously so far away that the "ground" cannot be seen.

It might be a tree on fire. There was enough hail/rain that it didn't cause a major fire.
